When it comes to sport cycling headlines such as this, I want to know what Eric at Fire Ant Gazette has to say. Oh ... and the same with Olympic women's beach volleyball.

I'm just happy he didn't announce that he was going to try to make the 2012 Olympic Women's Beach Volleyball team. ;-)
Seriously, I haven't a clue as to his motivation. I do have two theories. First, this is a way for him to stay in the spotlight and thereby increase his star power in the area of cancer advocacy.
Second, the guy just loves cycling, and, specifically, kicking the rears of his competitors. And he loves working with Bruyneel, the Astana team manager who was his manager during his TDF championship years.
This comeback is a huge hill to climb, but I surely wouldn't bet against him.
Eric, thanks for stopping in, and thanks for the thoughts!
