Oh, By the Way .....

Happy Birthday to my favorite member of the First Family! Laura Bush, First Lady of the United States - and one more example of how most of us men trade up - WAY UP - when we marry.

I've interviewed Laura Bush twice - both occasions when she was First Lady of Texas - and found her gracious, to say the least, with what must have seemed ubiquitous questions. She was sharp, too, providing clear and direct answers to those questions. I also found her to be a woman of great perception, having declared that both of my boys (she met Elder Son during a visit to Alpine, and Younger Son during a visit to McDonald Observatory) were "wonderful."
