Traffic's Picked Up a Little, Lately ...

Is it me, or are we having another rush of local weblog's setting-up shop in West Texas' end of the blogosphere?

I have no problem with more traffic, coming and going, and exchanging news and views ... that's good for us all ...

If there is one thing I'm not so thrilled about, it's the - so far
- narrow focus of these blogs ...

West Texas TV
Media Showdown
Tale of Two Medias
KMID Blews & Blows
N2News

They're not all the exact same, of course ... the first talks about the technical end of the media, the next three talk about the media in general, and the last one IS the media ...

My hope is that, given some time, they may broaden their
scope - and, through that, our knowledge - a little bit. Right now, I spend too many hours-a-day, too many days-a-week, working broadcast and online news, to come home and have somebody presume to tell me all about it.

Have no fear. I have much to say and many opinions on a wide range of subjects.

The media is a focus, while maybe not the sole focus, or central focus, simply because it is where I spend the majority of my time, its a career and we write about what we know. But I wouldn't even presume to tell anyone, especially someone like yourself, with as many years that you have under your belt, about it.

I just thought I'd let you know, that you may see rants about the media, but there will be many others on just about anything.

Welcome, bloggingmediaman.

The rants don't worry me. They're as much a part of the job as an AP Style Manual ... besides, if you listen closely and openly enough, even a rant has something to offer ... though, sometimes, it's a little hard to find the gem under all that slurry ...

I'll look forward to learning from yours ...
